How to understand the name of 18650 & Square battery?
Different manufacturers have different naming rules, but universal batteries all follow a uniform standard, and the size of the battery can be known according to the name of the battery.
As IEC61960 states that the rules for cylindrical and square batteries are as follows: 3 letters followed by 5 numbers,
A) 18650 battery, 3 letters with 5 numbers.
The first letter indicates the negative electrode material. (I indicates the built-in lithium ion, and L indicates the lithium metal or lithium alloy electrode).
The second letter indicates the positive electrode material, (C for cobalt, N for nickel, M for manganese, and V for vanadium)
The third letter is R for cylindrical.
The first 2 numbers represent the diameter, the last 3 number represent the height, and the units are all mm.
B) Square battery, 6 number after 3 letters.
The three letters, the first two letters have the same meaning as the cylinder, and the latter letter is P for the square.
6 numbers, the first 2 numbers represent the thickness, the middle 2 represents the width, the latter 2 represents the height (length), and the unit is also mm.
Such as: ICR 18650 is a universal 18650 cylindrical battery with a diameter of 18mm and a height of 65mm; ICP 053353 is a square battery with a thickness of 5mm, a width of 33mm and a height (length) of 53mm.
